House with a French Door

Client - Arun & Malvika Kamath

Area - 1500 sq.ft

2022

Location - Andheri

This is a family home of an artist who is global at heart and wanted her space to reflect the same. Each room has a style of its own-especially the washrooms and they all come together to be this eclectic fusion of tastes. One enters the house through a French door- a piece of contemporary artwork in itself. The kitchen design, a crisp mid-century modern palette with an accent forest green colour makes one want to spend all day cooking. The living room is an ode to the client’s South Indian roots- here we refurbished the sofas and styled their antique wooden-wicker jhula. Their furniture is complemented with plants, decor and the client’s own artwork. The foyer space marks a transition of styles- Moroccan tiles on the vanity wall highlight a handmade countertop porcelain basin that is a client as well as studio favourite. The guest bedroom- another young, bright space holds custom made mid-century inspired furniture. The washroom is a delicacy in deep blue subway tiles harmonised with black Moroccan flooring. The master bedroom is done up in a classic boho style- with light wood furniture and a variety of textures inspired from the client’s travels to Europe. Here, we refurbished old wooden panels, a wooden chest and made place for a Tanpura & Harmonium- truly completing the loop of this intercontinental abode.
