The privilege and joy to reside in a house by the sea in Mumbai surpasses all else. The Sun, sky and sea come together to put up the most spectacular views every evening and witnessing that from the comfort of one’s home often becomes the highlight of a day. Our special focus in this project was to maximize this experience through the design and curation of the viewing corner. We used minimalist furniture with solid colours for the chair upholstery to channel attention towards the window that frames the sea. We then peppered the space with vibrant cushions, artefacts and plants to liven it up. A custom designed ottoman became a connecting piece between the living room and the viewing corner. This aesthetic was completed with Moroccan tiles of varying sizes on the walls that added an aesthetic unevenness to the space.

The client gave complete creative freedom to us and we designed the space in classic Indian maximalist style where the artworks, decor, plants and lamps were given center stage. The artwork ‘Set of 10’ that graces the living room wall is a limited edition by the legendary Indian artist, Thota Vaikuntam. The cushions are coordinated with the vibrant colours of the paintings while the Heliconia's add more pop to the space.
